‘Kulhars’ sun-dried half baked disposable cups

The project explores the relationship between the traditional ‘humble cup’ and the modern day need to create a closed-loop in the lifecycle of products. Exploring displacement and the constant battle between the old and new. An object created with circular motion of the wheel, cyclical in its usage and representing a closed-loop. The clay cups are a perfect example of an object that comes from the nature and dissolves back into the earth.

To create a sensory experience of interacting with the cups, a helix of words with the cup as the central axis invoked a natural rotation by the person holding it, revealing the messages.

The hands-on approach in creating these ceramics reintroduced an element of humane, showcasing a variable medium-shifting design process.
